60 Teachers Participated
Needs-based and immersive teacher development program
A new language teaching methodology portfolio created

WHO: Kindergarten to 6th grade school teachers.

WHAT: Strategies to teach English effectively in the elementary classroom and developing teaching skills and methodology in English.

WHY: Teachers needed more reflective and impactful practices for teaching English for communication in their elementary classrooms – a step forward from using English only to learn from textbooks.

HOW: Workshops, classroom observations, conferences, discussion groups, introspective projects, and constructive feedback were given over a period of four months by dedicated trainers who stayed and worked with teachers to understand the teaching of English for communicative purposes.

ACHIEVEMENT: Teachers reported the experience to be transformative at a very deep level. They valued the detailed feedback reports given to them about their teaching and classroom management. A large book of resources was created as a community project with resources for learning technology, teaching methods, and Second Language Acquisition (SLA) literature as a reference and developmental tool.
